Reading Tablature
Tab, formally known as tablature is a notation in which music is written for guitars. Intuitively it makes reading music very easy since the guitar also has 6 strings.
Step 1: Learn the guitar strings -the lowest string is the E string, also known as the 6th string and is written on the bottom of all tabs -the next string is the A string, also known as the 5th string -string above that is the G string, also known as the 4th string -string above is the D string, also known as the 3rd string -string above is the B string, also known as the 2nd string -the highest string is the e string, also known as the 1st string and is written on the top of all tabs e|-------------------------| B|-------------------------| G|-------------------------| D|-------------------------| A|-------------------------| E|-------------------------| Step 2: Learn the symbols e|---0---1---3--- B|---0---1---0--- G|---1---2---0--- D|---2---3---0--- A|---2---3---2--- E|---0---1---3--- E F G *for chords E, F and G |
